Cult of Delusion

Comments from the artist

I often get the question if the people in my paintings are from another era or if they belong to my imagination. Even though I often create fictive interiors, this is not the case with the humans.

The individuals depicted in my paintings exist in real life. They are all people I’ve had the fortune to cross paths with in my life, and many of them I consider good friends. I’m obsessed with a curiosity of what it means to be human and the various colorful ways people in a melting pot like New York City express themselves.

For instance, the Burlesque scene with its performers and other kinds of exhibitionists and artistic personalities surrounding it are a form of sub culture in NYC. Many of my subject matters come from, but are not limited to, that scene.
